"I've worked with Diane for over five years on local climate change advocacy campaigns and from day one have been impressed with her initiative, natural bridge building ability and supporting the growth and development of many local volunteers from all backgrounds. I've seen Diane's commitment to the community shine through her work supporting high school young adults across our district with the Duluth Youth Climate Forum and their success in helping get solar energy installed for Duluth Schools. Diane's strength and spirit is the kind of leadership our community needs and I enthusiastically look forward to supporting her candidacy for Duluth City Council."

My name is Janet (Jan) Green and I am retired and live on London Rd. As a co-founder of Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve and Bird Observatory, a former member of the Minnesota Pollution Control Board, and a founding board member of the Great Lakes AquariumI, I have known and worked with Diane for many years. I am extremely pleased to be able to support her as a candidate for City Council. She has great qualifications to serve the City of Duluth in its responsibilities in protecting its rivers, hillsides and the clean water of the greatest of the Great Lakes.

When I arrived in Duluth from New England in 1958 I came with a love of nature, rocks (I’m a geologist) and hiking. I taught geology, including Environmental Geology, at UMD and combined these loves in helping to route the Superior Hiking Trail through Duluth as well as helping to establish the Duluth Natural Areas Program to help protect our unique ecological resources. In both of these projects Diane was a very helpful kindred spirit. She has an excellent record of public service and is savvy in technical issues as well as the workings of local government. She is a pleasure to work with. In short, she would bring a superb background as well as compatibility and motivation to the City Council. Please join me in voting for Diane Desotelle.

As a longtime DFL activist, a retired Duluth Public School educator and former school administrator, I am proud to offer my enthusiastic support for Diane Desotelle in her candidacy for the Duluth City Council in District 2.
I write not only as a supporter, but as a friend who has known Diane for many years and someone who has had the privilege of working with Diane professionally. Through that time, I have come to admire her unwavering commitment to public service, her strong work ethic, and her ability to communicate thoughtfully and effectively. Diane listens closely, acts decisively, and follows through—a rare and valuable combination in any leader.
What I want to highlight, however, is Diane’s dedication to education and lifelong learning. She has taught math at one of our local high schools, developed and taught a hydraulics course at UMD, and even led an environmental field technician course for incarcerated individuals through the federal prison system. Her work reflects a true belief in transformative power of education for individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
Diane Desotell is thoughtful, experienced, and deeply rooted in the values that matter to our community. I wholeheartedly support her campaign and urge voters in District 2 to give her their vote.
